Dr. Susana Robalo Martins is a Cardiologist at the University Hospital Santa Maria, Lisbon where she works as a Senior Cardiologist of the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (UTIC-AC) and also works at the Echocardiography Laboratory and Pulmonary Hypertension outpatient clinics.
She is an Invited Teacher of Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Lisbon University, since 2005.
Since the beginning of her training, Susana Martins has devoted a special interest to the area of severe Heart Failure, with experience in cardiac transplantation and mechanical ventricular support.

Dr. Susana Martins has published more than 40 original articles, 3 book chapters and has been an author and co-author of more than 180 conference proceedings presented at National or International meetings. She has been a Lead Researcher of 12 award-winning projects from which 7 were assigned by the Portuguese Society of Cardiology (4 in the area of Heart Failure). Dr. Susana is currently one of the team members in 4 University Research Projects and Master's Thesis at the Medical School, University of Lisbon.

She has been focus in Research where she has participated as principal investigator and co-investigator in 9 international, multicenter randomized trials in the area of heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and acute coronary syndromes.

She has participated as guest speaker at more than 90 scientific meetings, courses or round tables at both National and International meetings. In addition, she was a member of the Organising Committee of several National meetings including 3 National Congresses of Cardiology. She was the Chairperson of the Heart Failure study group of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology (2007-2011).

In 2010, she was nominated a FELLOW of the European Society of Cardiology.
